MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The following are the requirement for admission into National Diploma and Higher National Diploma Programmes of Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic Lafia.

1. Accountancy

National Diploma: A candidate requires five credit level passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics and any three other subjects from the following: Economics, Business Methods, Financial Accounting, Statistics, Geography, Government, Agric. Science/Biology obtained at not more than two sittings.

Higher National Diploma: All that is required for entry into National Diploma Accountancy and a minimum of Lower Credit pass (CGPA 2.50 and above) in National Diploma Accountancy/Financial Studies. Also require is a minimum of one year Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Accountancy.

1. Architectural Technology

National Diploma: Requires A candidate requires Five credit level passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in Mathematics, English, Physics/Chemistry and any three subjects chosen from Geography, Government, Agric. Science/Biology or Technical Drawing/Fine Art.

Higher National Diploma: All that is require for entry into National Diploma Architectural Technology and a minimum of Lower Credit pass (CGPA 2.50 and above) in National Diploma Architectural Technology. Also require is a minimum of one year Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

            Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 –    2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for       admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Architectural Technology

iii.        Business Administration and Management

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language and Mathematics inclusive. Others may include, Commerce, Business studies, Economics, Accounting, Geography, Government and Agricultural Science/Biology.

Higher National Diploma: All that is require for entry into National Diploma Business Administration and Management and a minimum of Lower Credit pass (CGPA 2.50 and above) in National Diploma Business Administration and Management/Marketing. Also require is a minimum of one year Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Business Administration and Management

1. Hospitality Management

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Sciences/Health Science, and two other subjects chosen from Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Economics, Food & Nutrition, Home Economics and Geography.

1. Computer Science

National Diploma:     A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two subjects from Economics, Geography Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science and Computer science.

            Higher National Diploma (HND Software & Web Design, HND Networking & Cloud Computing): All that is require for entry into National Diploma Computer Science and a minimum of Lower Credit pass (CGPA 2.50 and above) in National Diploma Computer Science. Also require is a minimum of one year Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Computer Science.

1. Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Geography, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Computer science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronic and Basic Electricity,

            Higher National Diploma (HND Electronic & Telecommunication) All that is require        for entry into National Diploma Computer Science and a minimum of Lower Credit pass       (CGPA 2.50 and above) in National Diploma Electrical/Electronic Engineering   Technology. Also require is a minimum of one year Post National Diploma cognate work           experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma (HND Electronic & Telecommunication)

vii.       Mechanical Engineering Technology

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Geography, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Computer science and Technical Drawing.

            Higher National Diploma (HND Manufacturing, HND Plant) All that is require for     entry into National Diploma Computer Science and a minimum of Lower Credit pass      (CGPA 2.50 and above) in National Diploma Mechanical Engineering Technology. Also             required is a minimum of one year Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma (HND Manufacturing, HND Plant)

viii.      Civil Engineering Technology

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Geography, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Computer science, Technical Drawing, Metalwork and Woodwork

viii.      Mechatronic Engineering Technology

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Geography, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Computer science and Technical Drawing.

viii.      Welding & Fabrication Engineering Technology

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Geography, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Computer science, Technical Drawing and Metalwork.

viii.      Renewable Energy Engineering Technology

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Geography, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Computer science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronic and Basic Electricity,

viii.      Water Resources Engineering Technology

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Geography, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Computer science and Technical Drawing.

1. Estate Management & Valuation

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics a Basic Science and other subjects from Economics, Geography, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Art, Woodwork, Literature, Metalwork, Accounting and Basic Surveying.

            Higher National Diploma: All that is require for entry into National Diploma Estate    Management & Valuation and a minimum of Lower Credit pass (CGPA 2.50 and above)          in National Diploma Estate Management & Valuation. Also require is a minimum of one      year Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Estate Management & Valuation.

1. Library and Information Science

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics and any three subjects from Commerce, Business studies, Economics, Accounting, Geography, Government, Agricultural Science/Biology, Physics, Biology and Chemistry.

Higher National Diploma: All that is require for entry into National Diploma Library and Information Science and a minimum of Lower Credit pass (CGPA 2.50 and above) in National Diploma Library and Information Science. Also require is a minimum of one year Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Library and Information Science

1. Local Government Studies

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics and any three subjects from Commerce, Business studies, Economics, Accounting, Geography, Government and Agricultural Science/Biology.

xii.       Mass Communication

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any two subjects from Commerce, Business studies, Economics, Accounting, Geography, Government and Agricultural Science/Biology.

Higher National Diploma (HND Strategic Communication & Mass Media Studies) All         that is require for entry into National Diploma Mass Communication and a minimum of    Lower Credit pass (CGPA 2.50 and above) in National Diploma Mass Communication.         Also required is a minimum of one year Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Strategic Communication & Mass Media Studies

xiii.      Public Administration

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, any three subjects from Economics, Government, Civic Education, Commerce, Business studies, Accounting, Geography and Agricultural Science/Biology.

            Higher National Diploma: All that is require for entry into National Diploma Public   Administration and a minimum of Lower Credit pass (CGPA 2.50             and above) in National      Diploma Public Administration. Also require is a minimum of one year Post National             Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Public Administration.

xiv.      Science Laboratory Technology

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any one from Physics, Agriculture Science and Geography.

            Higher National Diploma (Microbiology): All that is require for entry into National        Diploma Science Laboratory Technology and a minimum of Lower Credit pass     (CGPA 2.50    and above) in National Diploma Science Laboratory Technology. Also           require is a minimum        of one year Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology)

            Higher National Diploma (Biochemistry): All that is require for entry into National        Diploma Science Laboratory Technology and a minimum of Lower Credit pass (CGPA    2.50 and above) in National Diploma Science Laboratory Technology. Also require is a             minimum of one year Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Science Laboratory Technology (Biochemistry)

            Higher National Diploma (Chemistry) Same as HND Biochemistry

            Higher National Diploma (Environmental Biology) Same as HND Microbiology

1. Office Technology and Management

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics and three other subjects chosen from Economics, Government, Civic Education, Commerce, Business studies, Accounting, Geography and Agricultural Science/Biology.

xvi.      Social Development

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics and three other subjects chosen from Economics, Government, Civic Education, Commerce, Business studies, Accounting, Geography and Agricultural Science/Biology.

            Higher National Diploma (HND Social Welfare) All that is require for entry into National       Diploma Social Development and a minimum of Lower Credit pass (CGPA 2.50 and         above) in National Diploma Social Development. Also required is a minimum of one year             Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Social Welfare.

xvii.     Leisure and Tourism Management

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics and three other subjects chosen from Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography Chemistry, Physics, Economics Government and Home Economics,

Higher National Diploma: All that is require for entry into National Diploma Leisure and Tourism Management and a minimum of Lower Credit pass (CGPA 2.50 and above) in National Diploma Leisure and Tourism Management. Also require is a minimum of one year Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Leisure and Tourism Management.

xviii.   Urban and Regional Planning

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five credit level Passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics and three other subjects chosen from Geography, Biology, Technical drawing, Economics, Health Science, Physics, Government, Chemistry and Fine Arts.

Higher National Diploma: All that is require for entry into National Diploma Urban    and Regional Planning and a minimum of Lower Credit pass (CGPA 2.50 and      above) in National Diploma Urban and Regional Planning. Also require is a minimum of one year      Post National Diploma cognate work experience.

Note: In few exceptional cases, National Diploma Graduates with pass (CGPA 2.00 -2.49) that have worked for two years or more in the field may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma Programme in Urban and Regional Planning.

xix.      Quantity Surveying

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five Credit level passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Biology/Agric Science, Technical drawing, Economics, Government and Fine Arts.

1. Mathematics/Statistics

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five Credit level passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Biology/Agric Science, Technical drawing, Economics, Government and Fine Arts.

xxi.      Computer Engineering

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five Credit level passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and one other subject from Metal Work, Wood Work, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronic, Basic Electricity, Economics, Commerce, Statistics, Further Mathematics, Computer Studies, Geography and Biology or Agricultural Science.

xxii.     Geological Technology

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five Credit level passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and any two other subjects from Physics, Economics, Geography, Biology/Agricultural Science and Technical Drawing.

xxiii.    Environmental Science and Management Technology

National Diploma: A candidate requires Five Credit level passes from SSCE/GCE/NABTEB in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Biology/Agricultural Science and Chemistry or Geography, Economics and Government.
